Living and working in Southern Africa for the past several years has taught me a lot. The biggest lesson learned is that lack of accountability is the source of all corruption. I have witnessed too many injustices at the hands of unaccountability. Many times, the person isn’t doing it intentionally, but they simply lack education and training. My mind was blown. How do we expect those in power to follow the rules and ensure others follow the rules, when no one has taught them the rules?
I served 14 years as a law enforcement officer in the United States and have had the honor of training police in three different countries. I believe that police officers are a vital part of any society and since they are tasked with enforcing the rules of the land, they need to understand them. Those in power, must be empowered. And if a country is failing at that, Empowerment Culture is here to help.
